1
How quickly can we close?
As quickly as several hours or a few days, or as soon as your lender is ready. This depends on several factors, but Lane Law can get you closed as quickly as the involved parties can pass information between each other. For a very simple cash closing, in a matter of hours or days. For a traditional loan closing, typically a lender needs a few weeks lead time. Ordering payoff invoices for things like open mortgages, HOA dues, judgments, can vary greatly.
2
My property is not near Charlotte, can you still close it?
Yes! Lane Law is licensed to do business in North Carolina and South Carolina. The firm utilizes several software platforms to offer you flexible signing options, including mobile notaries to anywhere in the country, and electronic signing for cash buyers.
3
Who typically chooses the closing attorney?
While any party CAN choose the closing attorney, logistically it is usually the Buyer who writes in the name of the closing attorney into their Offer to Purchase (which later becomes the official contract when accepted and signed by Seller). The Seller can also note in their listing or initial communications with potential buyers that they have a preferred closing attorney. Buyers or Sellers can choose a closing attorney they know personally, but often they rely on the advice of their trusted real estate agent for a referral to an excellent closing attorney.
4
I am selling my property, not buying. Does that mean the buyer gets to choose my attorney for me?
Not at all! In most cases, the closing attorney will draft documents on behalf of the Seller, too. However, there are some cases where a Seller might need or want a separate attorney to represent their interests in closing. Contact Lane Law today to represent you in the sale of your property.
