Get StartedAttorney Bio
For more than a decade, Charlie has answered the call for clients, real estate agents, and mortgage originators in search of a closing attorney who is accessible, patient, and solution-oriented. He has immersed himself deeply in the practice of real estate law and the Charlotte Metro real estate industry to not just master his own job, but to truly understand how his clients and industry partners think, and how to meet them where they are.
He takes pride in making the often convoluted and stressful closing process more attainable and less daunting. He sets out each day to prove that a closing attorney can be approachable and can apply modern solutions to cater to the varying needs of his clients.
When he is not at the closing table, Charlie can often be found pulling an espresso shot, loading charcoal into the grill, or pacing around in front of his Tar Heels or Atlanta Braves - often multiple at once! He loves spending time with his wife, Sabrina, their two wild boys, Griffin and Barrett, and their sweet baby girl, Cameron. They enjoy venturing out together to Charlotte's diverse neighborhoods and the local restaurants, coffee shops and breweries.
What We Do
From its Dilworth office, Lane Law serves clients buying and selling real estate throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. With many modern signing and communication offerings, the firm can accommodate closings on just about any property in the Carolinas.
Navigating the complexities of buying or selling a home can be overwhelming. We review contracts, draft documents where necessary, coordinate logistics and costs with your lender and real estate agent, perform title work to confirm that you know what you are buying, and make sure all money being exchanged ends up in the correct hands, all while ensuring that all legal requirements are met and that your transaction closes smoothly on time.
Our attorney carefully reviews your contract to confirm it meets your desired goals and complies with the law. Sometimes a standard contract is not a "one size fits all solution." We have a database of forms and templates to prepare customized documents to meet your individual needs and get your deal closed correctly and legally.
Your home inspection only tells part of the story. We conduct thorough title searches and work closely with title insurance providers to protect your ownership rights and avoid costly surprises after closing. In an industry increasingly invaded by fraud and financial crime, it is imperative that you hire a closing attorney who is paying attention and cares about your financial investment.
Refinancing your mortgage or opening a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) requires careful attention to detail. Particularly when you are paying off and consolidating many debts, it is critical that you hire a closing attorney who safeguards your hard-earned money and gets it into the right hands.
If you have recently lost a loved one and need to sell a home, the last thing you want to do is jump through complicated hoops and rigid closing attorney requirements. Lane Law has extensive experience navigating the intricacies and interpersonal challenges of real estate being sold by or inherited through an estate.
Sometimes, you need an extra ally in your corner while selling a house. Lane Law can represent you in the sale of your home, even if the buyer has selected another firm for closing. When a dispute arises, or the seller just needs the peace of mind of a trusted professional in their corner, it might make sense for the seller to hire their own attorney.
You need to be in the field scaling your business, not stuck at a desk signing papers. Attorney Charlie Lane has supervised thousands of new construction closings for builders ranging from local investors to national publicly-traded large scale builders.
Lane Law has extensive experience working with unrepresented sellers and buyers. We can help you get your home sold and money transferred securely without the use of real estate agents. We can set up a consultation to help you get a contract drafted based on terms agreed between the parties.

SOLUTIONS
Free. Commission. Wires. You will never be charged a fee by Lane Law to receive compensation by wire. The firm believes in building strong loyal relationships and making life easier for the trusted partners that our business relies on.
Lane Law utilizes modern software that allows for saving templates and reproducing repeat wire instructions. In this day and age, there is no need to force familiar faces to jump through the same hoops every day to get paid. The firm can save your approved wiring instructions on file, verify that nothing has changed, and get you paid without overly burdensome documentation and approvals. Asking many loan officers from the same company to chase down wire instructions only serves to invite human error and create opportunities for fraud.
Lane Law can help you and your buyer clients get closed even if they are not using the services of a real estate agent. Attorney Charlie Lane will consult with the borrowers, prepare a purchase contract based on their agreed terms, and coordinate with your team to get to the closing table as normal, including any unique terms like gifts of equity or other arrangements.

This depends on several factors, but Lane Law can get you closed as quickly as the involved parties can pass information between each other. Traditionally the buyer selects the closing attorney, often in consultation with their real estate agent or lender. Sellers may retain separate counsel if they want independent representation during the transaction.
Buyers typically select the closing attorney who handles title work and disbursements. However, sellers can hire their own attorney to review documents, resolve title issues, and protect the seller’s interests throughout the process.
